Welcome to the Termite Terrace Webcam.
This site is for those interested in winter (and other seasonal) activites in the northern Michigan
area. Whether you're a snowmobiler, skier, snowshoer, dogsledder, hiker, or just enjoy being
north, this site is intended for you.
The camera is near Bear Lake, between Grayling and Kalkaska and reflects conditions on
an hour-to-hour basis. This location is on the southern fringe of the "blue-bear" snow belt.
As a general rule of thumb, snowfall and snow depths just a few miles north of here (Twin Lakes
and Starvation Lake area) are better, sometimes much better, due to the slightly higher altitude
and lake effect snow.
If you snowmobile, please patronize the local businesses, like the Bear's Lair, Rich's Cycle,
Nothern Michigan Powersports, and others as your business is key to their existence, and your
convenience.
Just a note, for those in the Bear Lake area, Paul and Wendy at the Bear's Lair make a mean
pizza, excellent breadsticks, buffalo wings and more. Their store, deli and gas station is a treat
to visit. They're wonderful folks that provide
hospitality just like I remember from my childhood. They are located just east of the
